Obituary

Reginald Cortez Ward gained his heavenly wings on January 5, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 48.

Mr. Ward was born on July 30, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Esther Louise (Hinds) Copeland, the youngest of five siblings. In the mid '70s at a young age, he moved with his family from Oklahoma City to the small rural town of Weleetka, Oklahoma where he completed elementary and high school. After graduating from Weleetka High School he studied electrical at Oklahoma State Technical Institute in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Mr. Ward loved working with his hands. He worked with Service Masters in Tulsa for many years before starting his own business, Ward's Handy Services. He could construct, build, install, or fix just about anything. He was a hard-working man who did not believe in idleness. He was always willing to help anyone with anything and was well known in the community as the man to call when you needed a job done efficiently.

Family was everything to Reggie. He was a great family man and a loving son, little brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. From his first marriage to Elizabeth 'Bethann' Manon he gained and raised a son, Wallace Cook, and has since relished being Papa to three grandchildren, Deontrae, Mya, and Micala, and two great-grandchildren. He always made time to visit with his Mother and his Aunt Faye in Weleetka. His love of grilling would lead him to host an impromptu cook-out for family and friends anytime the weather was good.

Mr. Ward was a devout spiritual Christian who loved the Lord and praised Him often. He gave thanks for every occasion, large and small. He was a faithful member of Weleetka First Baptist South church for most of his life. He believed in the power of prayer and his daily online prayers were an inspiration to many.

On January 21, 2017 Reggie met the love of his life: his Ladysoul, Mindy Michelle Ward. They were married on April 21, 2018. They have two children, Matthew and Francesca Hill, of the home. Reggie was an awesome bonus Dad. They resided in Muskogee, Oklahoma until God called Reggie to his eternal home.

Reginald Ward is survived by his wife, Mindy, and his children Matthew and Francesca, all of the home; his mother, Esther Copeland, and his Aunt Ada Faye Moses of Weleetka; his siblings: Sabrina (Eddie) Murphy of Tulsa; Cicero Ward of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Marquis Ward of Tulsa; Dortha (Edward) Biggs of Tulsa; Corena Garfield of Tulsa; by nieces and nephews Princz Jones of Tulsa; Princiz Jones of Dallas, Texas; Mercedes (Travis) Howard; Bryson, Rhaina, and Lexington of Tulsa; Ronnie Hill, Candance, Makya, and Josiah of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Reginald Ward and Reginald Jeremiah of Tulsa, Farrahn Hill of Tulsa; and Ssgt Roderick (Elizabeth) Ward, Harrison and Leona Jade of Moody AFB, Georgia, Edward Biggs III of Tulsa, DaQwann Ward of Tulsa, TeShallia (Tray) Harrington, Michael and Andrew of Tulsa, Nathaniel Garfield II of Tulsa; and a host of cousins too numerous to name.

He is preceded in death by his (no such thing as 'Step') Father: Joe Copeland of Weleetka; his grandmother, Dortha Hinds of Weleetka; and his uncles William Copeland and John Copeland of Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00pm in Weleetka, Oklahoma.
