Obituary

Pauline Theo Kennedy was born January 27, 1920 in Terlton, Oklahoma to William Burton Bell and Nellie Pauline (Wheatley) Bell and passed from this life November 9, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 96.

Pauline was raised in Pawnee County and attended school there. She later attended Southeastern State College in Wilburton where she received a teaching degree. Later, she earned a Masters Degree in Education at Oklahoma State University and Reading Specialist certification from Oklahoma University.

On September 10, 1940 she was married to Lewis B. Kennedy and they began a lifetime teaching career together. They came to Weleetka in 1948 where he was school superintendent and she taught elementary school for thirty-four years.

Pauline was trained by her mother to play piano which brought her many years of enjoyment. She was involved in water and lake sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and she excelled in yoga. She also liked to participate in contests involving naming of products. She won several awards and prizes along the way which included a mattress and cash prize when she submitted a suggestion to a mattress company. While coming very close she lost to the name Posturepedic. She loved making up jingles and created an annual family Christmas event by writing jingles for clues to a scavenger hunt. One lucky family member would end up with an extra Christmas present.

She was very patriotic and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the "Rosies", which recognized the important role played by women during World War II. She herself guarded the shores of the USA in California by walking miles from one checkpoint to another insuring no submarines landed on our shore without our knowledge. For many years Pauline attended the First Baptist Church in Weleetka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Burton Bell, Jr., sister Nadine Alva Bell Harrold Dickey, her husband Lewis, and son-in-law Phillip Crawley.

Survivors include: two daughters, Theo Crawley of Weleetka and Sharon Jeanette (Kennedy) Young of Idabel; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Phillip Crawley II and his children Phillip Tres III and Elizabeth, Jake Lewis Crawley, his wife Jodi, and children Deni and Savannah, Brett Lynn Crawley and his children Aslan Benton and Wheatley Day, Dale Richard Young II, his wife Scarlett, and children Danielle and Kennedy, Lora Lee (Young) Moore and children Sean Michal and Katie; great great grandchildren, Trger Ann, Gabriel.
