Lois
Williams
Jan 20, 1925 — Nov 11, 2018
Tampa
Lois Maud Sorenson Williams quietly climbed the stairway to heaven while her body lay peacefully sleeping in her Tampa, Florida home of Hudson Manor, ALF on Sunday, November 11, 2018. She was greeted at the Golden Gates by her glorious God, a chorus of angels and the welcoming souls of loved ones who had passed before and since her birth more than 93 years ago on January 20, 1925 in Tescott, Kansas. First in line to hug their daughter were Dr. Soren C. (Cy) Sorenson and Martha Elisabeth Calhoon Sorenson. Lois was the eldest of their three daughters; middle sister Anne Jameson, also greeted her there, and youngest sister Majorie Franks survives with husband Cliff and extended family including beloved nephews Mike Franks and Kenny Jameson. The joyous heavenly reunion continued as Lois' husband of 61 years, decorated army veteran Mack E. Williams, finally wrapped his loving arms around her once again. Daughters Linda and Barbara (with her unborn child) joined the celebration while sending comfort down to those left behind, specifically Barbie's widower Bill, their daughter Lisa along with her husband Dave, and Lois' great-granddaughters Katey and Ally Patterson. Lois also is survived by step-grandson Ryan Widrig, his wife, Stephanie, and their kids, Rowan and Cole.
Her family remembers Lois as a beloved matriarch who led by example and showed all how to live life to its fullest: with faith, gratitude and joy. She was the picture of grace, warmth and everlasting love through the Great Depression that kept her family constantly on the move following work; through World War II that left her young husband crippled for life; through the struggle of raising a mentally handicapped daughter for over 60 years and through the heartache of losing a healthy daughter who died suddenly and pregnant at just 27 years old. It was at tough road, but Lois trusted God, loved all and selflessly gave all that she had to help others.
Lois met Mack, the love of her life, just days after graduating high school in Brawley, California. After the War, he worked in construction and she served as City Clerk. Their family and faith grew together through the years. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Mack's childhood home in Weleetka, Oklahoma, where Lois "loved everything about the land -- even the weeds." Both were active in the First Christian Church; Lois was the last surviving board member.
Lois' other great love was the Lord, who she shared with others in countless ways. She guided youth groups and adult Bible studies, sang His praises, played favorite hymns, and spoke to anyone interested about her love of God, as exemplified by her favorite verse: Isaiah 40:28-31. Lois was reunited with her Maker on Veteran's Day and was laid to rest by her family at a private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka on November 16, 2018. Rev. Bill Harris officiated services.
