Kenneth Dale
Towery
Oct 5, 1940 — Jan 22, 2025
Kenneth Dale Towery passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025. He was born on
October 5, 1940, in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Tom and Ruby Towery. He graduated from
Wetumka High School in 1958 where he graduated lettering in multiple sports and
participating in FFA and ROTC. Ken learned two of his passions at a young age; how to
play the guitar and hunt. He thoroughly enjoyed playing music for people and made it a
personal challenge to learn to play as many instruments as possible. He answered the
call as a lifelong hunter, but his true enjoyment focused on raising and training award
winning coon hounds and bird dogs.
Ken loved playing different sports including softball past the age of 55. He showed his
love and devotion for his family and sports by coaching his children for many years at
various times of his life sometimes finding just enough time to arrive at the ballfield to
coach in his nice work clothes. Ken demonstrated perseverance and strong leadership
as successful public servant for the federal government at the Federal Aviation
Administration for over 35 years where he retired as a GS15. Ken had a big generous
and compassionate heart always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed
it. He was incredibly loyal to friends and family oftentimes taking on the role as a peace
maker. Ken possessed a big personality consisting of a funny, ornery disposition that
would capture a room. He is dearly loved and will be dearly missed.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters June and Pat and other family
and friends. He is survived by siblings Bob and Charlotte Towery, Phyllis Osborn, Jan
and Don Preston. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Towery and daughter Chelsea
Sims; former wife Barbara Joiner, their children: Beverly and Mike Henning, Cheryl and
Eli Natividad. He is survived by his former wife Rebecca Towery, their children Dane and
Prisca Towery and his grandchildren: Adam and Kezia Henning, Zachary Henning, Josh
and Whitney Weimer, Eli and Karen Natividad, and Bobbie Natividad; their great
grandchildren: Naarah, Nathan, Lael, Elias, Evelyn, Apphia, Ezra, Kera, Liam, Duke,
