Joshua Duane Butler was born August 6, 1985, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to David Leslie Butler and Angela (Neese) Mueller and passed from this life December 31, 2025, near Wetumka, Oklahoma at the age of 40.

Joshua was raised in Wetumka and attended Wetumka Public School. As a young man he learned to weld from his father and grandfather and worked as a metal fabricator. He made Wetumka his lifelong home.

The thing most important to him was his family, especially his brothers, sister, mother, father, and grandmother. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed mudbogging, fishing, dirt road driving (especially on an ATV), and was pretty good at pitching horseshoes. He lived life to the fullest and for those he loved he always had their back. Although Joshua faced many demons during his life, he always had a deep love for God.

He was preceded in death by a brother Aaron in 2024, by his paternal grandparents, Linda and Duane Butler, and his maternal grandfather, Lyle Neese.

Survivors include: his mother Angela Mueller, and husband Jeff, of Okmulgee; his father David Butler of Wetumka; three brothers, Levi Allen Johnson and Andrew Lee Johnson, both of Wetumka, and Cody Butler and wife Kyleigh; a sister Agusta Compton and husband Ray; step-sister, Shai McGirt; his maternal grandmother Jennifer Reddick of Okemah; along with many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside rites will be held Friday, January 9, at 1:00pm at the Wetumka Cemetery with Rev. Brad Burton officiating. Pallbearers will be Levi Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Brian James Fisk, Cody Butler, Ryan Newport, and Mathew Wright. Interment will follow under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home.
