Jo Ann Shelton was born June 15, 1974 in Lubbock, Texas to Vernon and Mary Joannie Ester (Grothe) Cooper and passed from this life and passed from this life July 3, 2017 at her home near Dustin at the age of 43.

Jo Ann was raised in Lubbock and attended school there. She moved to Bonham, Texas and later met Floyd Shelton and they were married some seventeen years ago. They made their home near Dustin in 2002.

While in Lubbock she received training as a Certified Nurse Aid and worked in long term care. In Bonham she worked in home health. Due to failing health she retired early.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia and Sharon.

Survivors include: her husband Floyd of the home; three children, Trisha Herman and Tammy of Lubbock and Timothy Herman of El Paso; three brothers, Patrick Cooper of Albuquerque, NM, Willie Cooper of Lubbock, TX, and Vernon Cooper, Jr.; two sisters, Jill Pell and husband Jessie and Betty Weight and husband Clifford all of Lubbock; three grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
