Janey LaDean Byrd was born November 26, 1960 in Wetumka to James Guy Byrd, Jr. and Maedene (Baldwin) Byrd and passed from this life on December 19, 2016 at her home in Okemah at the age of 56.

Janey spent her earliest years in Wetumka and then moved to Wewoka with her family when she was eleven. She was a 1980 graduate of Wewoka High School. Following graduation she worked for the Wewoka Baking Company before relocating to Tulsa where she become a home healthcare provider. After living some twelve years in Tulsa she moved to Okemah six years ago to be near family. Janey is remembered as a natural peacemaker, loving people, and enjoyed making them happy. Playing bingo made her happy!

She was preceded in death by infant siblings Howard and Dianna, her parents, and a special aunt, Ima.

She is survived by: four siblings, Debbie McEwin and husband Danny, Larry Byrd, and David Byrd, all of Okemah, and Coleen Webb and husband Carl of Jones;
four nieces, Catherine, Janet, Katie, and Bianca; two nephews, Craig and Michael; a special cousin Cheryl Baldwin and special friend Rebecca Whisenhunt; along with several other cousins, relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home Chapel in Wetumka on Friday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Williamson officiating.
