Gene
George
Oct 1, 1954 — Apr 2, 2018
Wichita
Gene Edward George was born October 1, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas to Roy and Nora (Davis) George and passed from this life April 2, 2018 in Wichita at the age of 63.
He met and married Carol (Pocowatchit) George in 1973. They raised their four daughters in Kansas City, MO while he worked for the Burlington Railroad. They later moved to Holdenville, OK where he could care for his mother. Gene and Carol became her caregiver some two years. Following her death Gene moved his family to Wichita, KS where he attended Wichita State University earning two Masters Degrees in Sociology and Gerontology.
Gene was an avid fly fisherman and there wasn't a single piece of fly fishing gear that he didn't own. He even tried his own flys. Gene also became a OU Sooner fan at the young age of five. He sat down with his father and brother to watch an OU and Texas game and from then on he was hooked! He loved his family, his daughters, and grandchildren deeply. He was their protector and their father. He mentioned many times he didn't want to leave Carol his wife. Words cannot express how much he loved her.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Nora George and sisters Agnes Al-Dabbagh, Raylene Pern, and Connie Schad.
Survivors include: his wife Carol George of the home; children, Dianna George and Christopher Fischer, Nora George and Eric McAdams, Ganiene George and Fernando Mendoza, and Charlene George and Wilbur Bessinger; a brother Roy Reed George and sisters Allene Lafferty and Mary Lou George; grandchildren, Kyle George, Larissa Fischer, Christopher Fischer, Gene George, Makayla McAdams, Dakota McAdams, Chance McAdams, Carol McAdams, Christian DeLeon of the home, Isabel DeLeon, Viviana DeLeon, and Avery Mendoza, and a great grandchild Aaolan Ryder George.
