Obituary

Ella Mae Buck was born May 16, 1943 in Calera, OK to Bill and Lucille Gibson. Ella passed away April 29, 2026 in Wetumka, OK.

Ella went to Achille, Goodland and Durant schools. She later attended Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. After graduating Haskell, Ella moved to Dallas, Texas and worked in a secretarial pool. Dallas is where she met and married the love of her life, Toney Buck on May 7, 1970 at Bacon Springs Baptist Church in Achille, OK. Ella filled many roles throughout her life as a servant of God, wife, mother, friend but her most cherished role was one of being a grandmother. She was the epitome of good. It’s a simple word that embodies kindness, love and caring but shouldn’t be overlooked in its simplicity like her. In her quiet stillness, she made you feel loved and supported. She never told the joke but she loved to laugh and was never happiest than when she was with her loved ones. She was interested in family history and avidly attempted to keep in touch with her family. Chances are if she had your address, you’d receive a Christmas card from her and just know that if you sent or gave her a photo she treasured it. She steadfastly supported her husband Toney as a pastor’s wife until he went to be with the Lord. She was a member of Wetumka First Baptist but after Toney’s death she was more comfortable attending virtually. She truly never had an unkind word to say. If something was not to her taste, she’d politely say, “that’s different”. There aren’t enough words to say what she meant to us and she’d be uncomfortable being in the spotlight. Just know that if she knew you, she cared about you and she was praying for you and wished you the best. Our hearts are breaking but we know that God called her home and we’ll see her again as followers of Christ.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucille Gibson; husband, Toney Buck; siblings, Donald Gibson, Billy Joe Gibson and Edna Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Mrini; her grandchildren Mehdi and Zahra Mrini; her sister Rose LeFlore; as well as a host of cherished family and friends.
