Obituary

Bonnie Jean Koger was born August 19, 1944 at home in Kansas City, Missouri to Thomas Richard Johnson and Bertha May Johnson and passed from this life May 23, 2024 at her home south of Wetumka at the age of 79.

Bonnie was raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area and was a graduate of Fort Osage High School in 1962. The following year she married Benny Koger. While Benny was in the Navy, they lived in several places where he was stationed including California, Alaska, the Philippines, and Texas. While stationed in Texas they made several trips to visit family in Missouri, passing through a nice little town called Wetumka. They later decided to make their home there in the 1970s. Benny later reenlisted in the Navy and they spent another year in Virginia, but Wetumka remained their lifelong home.

Bonnie was a crochet artist and an avid reader. She also enjoyed movies, TV, music and cooking, and is especially remembered as an excellent baker. Bonnie loved flowers even though she didn't grow them herself.

Bonnie was preceded in death by 3 children, Susan Michelle Robinson in 2002, Terry Lee Koger in 2005, and Sheri Leanne Hill in 2021. Coming from a large family, seven siblings, Evelyn Holder, Annie Cartier, and Steven Neil "Butch", Bill, Eddie, Dean, and Rick Johnson, also passed earlier.

Survivors include: a son, Steven Neil Koger of Wetumka; a brother, Tom Johnson and a sister, Joyce Bailey, both of Lee Summit, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Amie Leader, Brandi Yahola, Kimberly Colston, Casey Carter, and Kendall and Kyle Chanthavisouk; along with 12 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, several nieces, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
