Barbara, nicknamed "Punkin," passed away at the age of 61 on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Weleetka, Oklahoma.
Barbara attended elementary schools at Weleetka before graduating high school at Oklahoma City's Classen High School in May 1976. She later continued her education at Oklahoma City Community College and the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK.
In July 1968, she was baptized by the Rev. Jimmy Asbury at the Alabama Indian Baptist Church of Weleetka. After moving to Oklahoma City, she became a member of the Little Springs Baptist Church.
In June 1975 she married Theodore Wayne Toney at the Faith Baptist Church of Del City, OK. In October 1975, Wayne and Barbara welcomed their first-born daughter, Theda Jeanette Toney. On August 8, 1977, she gave birth to their son, Joseph Thomas Eugene Toney.
Barbara learned to play the piano at an early age and would sometimes play the piano at worship services at Alabama Church. Also, she began to play at family gatherings while we gathered around to sing.
Sports was a favorite activity of hers, especially softball and baseball. She also loved to read, often times reading at her lunch time and forgetting to eat her lunch. As her daughter grew older, Barbara got her started on activities such as various dance activities, then later on she pointed her to favorite sport of softball.
Barbara not only enjoyed attending and supporting Theda's events, as she began to have nephews, she also began to attend their events. And next came her grandchildren, which she felt blessed to have, and more activities to attend.
She enjoyed attending family gatherings. Loving life as she did and being active, she brought with her almost always a tease and laughter to those around her.
