Anita Kathleen
Counts
Jan 27, 1961 — Jun 6, 2024
Anita Kathleen (Stapp) Counts, resident of Dewar, was born January 27, 1961, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Nancy (Fish) Stapp and Gene Stapp. She departed this earth to join the Lord on June 6, 2024.
Anita grew up in a large family. She and her twin sister, Rita were the youngest of 12 children, but she was the SECOND to the youngest, because she was 5 minutes older than Rita! During her youth, she lived primarily in Hughes County and attended schools there, and in her teens she joined her sister in Kansas, graduating from Washburn Rural High School in Auburn, Kansas in 1981.
Anita was previously married to Joe Oleson in Auburn, KS and Daniel Murray in Eufaula, OK before her marriage to Emmett Counts in Fort Smith, AR on May 22, 2018. They made their home in Dewar, OK with their dogs, Si and Duchess.
Anita worked most often in the service industry, but her favorite jobs were in the field of caregiving. She worked as a cook and most recently, as an elderly care worker. Her nurturing and caring personality made her a natural caregiver and she excelled in this field. She loved and was loved by her clients and both they and their families knew that they would always receive the very best of care from Anita.
Anita enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with her large family. She was known by family and friends for her loving and caring spirit. She loved to laugh, and her laugh was infectious; when you picture Nita in your mind, I bet she is smiling, isn't she? She enjoyed collecting frogs and loved country music. She loved to go to garage sales and thrift stores, often picking up special things for her favorite people. Visitors to her home would often return home with her delicious homemade lasagna or banana bread.
Anita was survived by her husband Emmett, of the home, a stepdaughter Donna Tarron and husband Brandon, of Granbury, TX, and five grandchildren, Hannah Hull and husband Nathan, of Mansfield, TX, Samuel Tarron and fiancée Hannah, of Lubbock, TX, Gabriel Tarron and girlfriend Shiloh, of Burleson, TX, Gideon Tarron and wife Anna, of Cleburne, TX, and Dakota Wright of Hartshorne, OK. She is also survived by two sisters, her twin sister Rita Smith and husband, Brent of Graham, OK and Sharon Stapp of Dustin, OK, and two brothers, Bobby Stapp and wife Fran, of Maud, OK, and Pete Stapp, Dustin, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Louise Buck, Laverne Counts, Brenda Howell, Carol Stapp, and three brothers, Gene Stapp, Ronnie Stapp, Danny Stapp, and a stepson, Marvin Counts.
